Our story
Hello! My name is Theresa, and I’m the creator and owner of I’m Bored sewing kits. I’m a retired teacher and dancer, and I also love making quilts.
This little project started during the pandemic. I found myself a bit bored — I didn’t feel like working on any quilts, but I still wanted to sew. So I began cutting out fun shapes, stitching them together, and stuffing them with fabric scraps. I realised it could be a great activity for children and parents to do together — and it turns out, there are lots of positive benefits, which I’ve researched.
I showed the idea to my family and friends, and they encouraged me to turn it into a product. “Why don’t you sell them as kits?” they said. It took some time to think it through and to find materials that were affordable, eco-friendly, and would keep the kits accessible.
Now, I gather most of my fabrics from secondhand markets and wonderful not-for-profit organisations like The Sewing Basket (run by ACHIEVE, supporting people with disability) and Reverse Garbage, which promotes sustainable and creative reuse of discarded materials.
It’s taken a little while, as I mentioned, but here it is — and I hope you enjoy it. I’m also planning to add a few new items in the future, so stay tuned!
Thank you for supporting small, creative, sustainable crafting.
Warmly,
Theresa
